There are opportunities for you to use your gifts to minister to and serve the congregation, widows, those in need, and oppressed in the local community. Together we jointly share the love of God with others.
Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center, formerly Choose Life, is an outreach of local churches to advocate for life with young couples expecting a child and possibly considering abortion. We participate with them in this work by leading a class each Thursday evening aimed at equipping young fathers practically, morally, and spiritually. This ministry is located one block north of Huntsville Hospital.
Lincoln Village Ministry's mission is to help people experience restoration and redemption through a transforming relationship with Christ. In 2002, the Lincoln community, a 1.5-mile area just minutes from downtown Huntsville, AL, was riddled with crime and poverty. Parents were frustrated and exhausted from living in unsafe conditions and facing overwhelming obstacles as they tried to provide for their families. Despair and hopelessness set in. One man felt compelled to enter the darkness and bring the light of Christ. Thousands of others followed. Our baby sitting, community night support, Saturday morning (8:30am-11:30am) workday, etc. are opportunities for us to know (epignosis) the love of Christ by acting it out; taking the initiative to act in kindness to those who may not reciprocate.
“Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.” Isaiah 1:17. We have widows in the congregation that need love, fellowship and social interactions greater than their families can provide, rides to appointments, lawn care, grocery runs, fellowship meals out, etc. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27)
